Bits & Pieces: Digital Poetics for Broken-World-Thinking
Expect disruption: reflecting on fragility in the aftermath of innovation.
What endures is not perfection, but the quiet work of keeping things going. HTML poems, p5.js kinetics, QR codes, and hyperlink mazes invite reflection on fragility, disruption, and digital coexistence.
Bits & Pieces: Digital Poetics for Broken-World-Thinking
We live in the aftermath of innovation. Broken-world-thinking begins from the premise that breakdown, decay, and fragility are not exceptions to technological life but enduring conditions of it. Digital worlds persist through ongoing acts of maintenance, repair, and care, much of which remains invisible until systems falter.
This installation brings together HTML poems, p5.js kinetic texts, QR code encounters, and hyperlink detours. Glitches, loops, dead ends, and moments of uncertainty are not errors to overcome but an aesthetic that disrupt seamless interaction and invite reflection on how digital worlds are sustained, repaired, and undone.
To navigate these works is to participate in maintenance as an act of care. As meaning fragments across screens, links, and interfaces, visitors are invited to linger with breakdown and consider the fragile relations, acts of care, and ongoing work that hold digital worlds together.
The Poems
Six digital poems on broken-world-thinking, told through kinetic text, hyperlinks and QR code.
Each artwork runs in its own digital format, examining how computational systems decay, buffer, reassemble and persist through failure.

Car batteries
Branching pathways fracture and sanitize dialogue on ecological decay, acid corrosion, and discarded electrical reserves.

Maintenance and repair
Maintenance is never finished. Interact with an endless loop of what it takes to keep things going.

Attention
What stays in focus is a matter of care. Holding things together is rarely easy.
