Car batteries
Discarded batteries sit in a forest, carrying traces of distant supply chains, forgotten journeys, and technological afterlives. Each link follows another fragment, revealing how digital and material worlds persist through accumulation, decay, and repair.
Meaning unfolds through detours. Some relevant, some irrelevant. As visitors move between batteries, forests, myths, logistics networks, and discarded technologies, the poem invites reflection on the hidden infrastructures, acts of maintenance, and fragile connections that continue to hold worlds together and our tendency to look upon ruins in wonder.

Stanza I // Encounter
I found a collection car batteries in the forest
The forest had everything
Lead-acid batteries
AGMs and EFBs
Even those lithium-ion batteries for EVs.
Stanza II // The Hoard
I was jealous and curious.
Jealous, because I wanted a more impressive collection of car batteries myself
Curious, because what did the forest need with all these car batteries?
Stanza III // Distribution
The potential history of how the forest collected these car batteries was intriguing
Were they delivered by UPS, Amazon or some kind intermediary?
It must have been a logistical nightmare and
These are the only option I can think of.
Stanza IV // Apparitions
Unless it were a good Samaritan
Or perhaps a Satyr, those mischief-makers
feeding the forests sick addiction for car batteries
Stanza V // Transmission
Best not dwell on all of that.
It's not my place to judge a forests interest in car batteries
What an amazing place!
We can truly get anything, anywhere, to all manner of folks
I will let the others know!
